Who is Dogpool in Deadpool & Wolverine? Everything You Need to Know

The Marvel Cinematic Universe always brings surprises, and this time, it’s the introduction of Dogpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. According to Ryan Reynolds, Dogpool, played by Britain’s Ugliest Dog, Peggy, is a Deadpool variant who adds a fun, unique twist to the movie.

Who Is Dogpool?

In the comics, Dogpool is a canine version of Deadpool from Earth-103173. He was once an ordinary street dog before being captured by Babeline Cosmetics for their project Mascara-X. The company experimented on him to create never-ending mascara, but instead, they unlocked his regeneration powers, transforming him into the Dogpool we know.

Dogpool’s comic origins are more serious, showing a dog who was mistreated, but through the experimentation, he became a hero. In Deadpool & Wolverine, Dogpool, known as Mary Puppins, is portrayed as a quirky and lovable female variant, watched over by Nicepool (another version of Deadpool played by Ryan Reynolds).

Dogpool’s Journey in the Comics

Dogpool is a member of the Deadpool Corps, a team of Deadpool variants from different universes, including Lady Deadpool, Kidpool, and others. He was recruited by Deadpool from Earth-616 and became a valuable team member. Dogpool appeared in several major comics, including Prelude to Deadpool Corps, Deadpool Family, and even in Deadpool Kills Deadpool. Despite his tragic death in the latter, Dogpool was brought back to life in Deadpool: Bladder Blood, rejoining the team for further adventures.

Dogpool’s Role in Deadpool & Wolverine

The movie adaptation introduces a more playful version of Dogpool. As a Deadpool variant, Mary Puppins has many of the same funny and eccentric traits as her human counterparts. She quickly wins the hearts of audiences with her silly antics and loyalty to the team. Despite her goofy persona, Dogpool has powers that make her hard to beat, especially her ability to heal rapidly, a trait borrowed from Deadpool himself.

Ryan Reynolds, who advocated for Dogpool’s inclusion, expressed how Peggy, the dog playing Dogpool, perfectly captured the character’s essence. The film takes the opportunity to hint at her comic origins while showing her role within the multiverse, especially with the rise of the Deadpool Corps.

What Can We Expect?

Dogpool’s presence in Deadpool & Wolverine adds to the movie’s excitement. As the multiverse opens up, fans can expect to see more from different Deadpool variants, including Dogpool. With her regenerative abilities and hilarious personality, Dogpool will likely steal the show as part of Deadpool’s growing family of misfits.
